New CEO, New iPhone Duo (2026)
It’s been almost a decade and half since our beloved Steve Jobs left us on 5 October 2011. Steve Jobs was synonym for Apple, well, at least for us Millenials/Gen-Y. Tim Cooks led the company after him. Time flies so fast. Just when we had thought that 2026 is almost over, Apple has a new CEO from 1 September: the name is Ternus, John Ternus. And yes, Apple now has a foldable model in their iPhone lineup: New CEO, New iPhone Duo. The end is here, not of the world, but the year of 2026. Be optimistic sometimes.
I grew up watching Steve Jobs and following his product launch campaigns. In fact, I learned much about the presentation skills from him than anyone else. His Keynote events will always remain a presentation classic. No offense, but Apple events don’t feel the same without him. We miss Steve Jobs. He didn’t just give us Apple and iPhone and iPad. He gave a meaning to everything he did. That’s the Zen of Steve Jobs.
Let’s not get distracted from the main topic. We are here to discuss the latest product reveal from Apple. First, iPhone Duo. We will come to iPhone 18 shortly.
iPhone Duo
When I first heard about iPhone Duo, it reminded me of Duolingo. I just checked and the Duolingo Owl is mad at me right now as I haven’t gone back to him to practice my French and Arabic since last 231 days. Wow, it’s been a while. Thanks to iPhone Duo for reminding me of Duolingo. I swear I will go patch up with the owl this evening.
Ternus seems to be inspired from Steve Jobs like all of us. He actually used the trademark line that Jobs often used. “Wait a minute… Who are you?” Oh not that. That’s actually a famous meme, and the kid who originally said that has grown up now. “Actually there is one more thing” said Steve Jobs back then, and recently, by Ternus. I think Steve is guiding him.
What’s so special about iPhone Duo?
Glad that you asked. I thought you were never gonna ask and just go out and buy one. We could start referring to Samsung’s already existing foldable models, but I am not here to take sides. Both Apple and Samsung are awesome. So, let’s just talk about iPhone Duo here.
Better late than never, Apple decided to step into the foldable smartphone category. It’s a premium category though. It will certainly feel premium… with a large display and multitasking. You can even use two windows side-by-side. It’s like extending your laptop display to a second screen for simultaneous working. It’s a real irony that we prefer big screens for the things that we do on small screens and use small screens for the stuff that we can normally do with big screens. But that’s us. We never get enough of anything. And an interesting thing about iPhone Duo is that you can use an Apple pencil on it which was limited to iPad.
When will the iPhone Duo be available?
Glad that you asked this question. As of now, Apple has only revealed iPhone Duo. Maybe few of the selected users already got their hands on it. IShowSpeed being one of them. Maybe because his name starts with the same letter as iPhone Duo. Or maybe just a coincidence.
For now, iPhone Duo pre-order will be available from 16 October 2026 and one week after that, on 23 October 2026, it will be released for availability. So, just a month or so until you get your hands on iPhone Duo unless you have an “i” at the beginning of your name.
Yeah, for the starting price, it’s… (make sure you grab a chair and sit tight on it)… iPhone Duo has its starting price from $1,999. I wonder why they snipped that $1 for.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
Following the launch of iPhone Duo, I doubt if you might even wanna come read about iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Let’s be honest. It’s just a normal iPhone now, because there’s iPhone Duo already. Nevertheless, the big thing about 18th edition is significant improvements to the battery, and it means a lot… to the iPhone users. Of course, it’s not gonna be like Nokia 1100 model which remains at 100% (or is it 99%) battery after one year. But the improvement means something. You don’t have to frequently jack it up for the juice. But you will… It’s just in a muscle memory for the iPhone users to charge it up again and again.
Regarding the camera, iPhone has never let us down, especially with its cinematic effects. I brought GoPro for my travel vlogs and ended up using iPhone more often for shooting. Of course, I would use GoPro for underwater shooting. I can’t risk taking some thousand dollars into the water.

iPhone 18 Pro starts from $1,199. If you are still on the chair, you can get up now. For iPhone 18 Pro Max, it’s just a 100 bucks more. Good news is that you can pre-order and get your 18 Pro sooner than Duo. Pre-order starts from 12 September 2026. And in a week, you will get it.
